Important Guidelines for the Natural Reserve in St. Barthélemy

Visitors to St. Barthélemy’s Natural Reserve are reminded to adhere to the following regulations, which are essential for the preservation of this protected area:

  1. Vessel Size Restriction
    Boats over 25 meters (82 feet) are prohibited from entering the Natural Reserve.
  2. Mandatory Insurance
    All vessels entering the Natural Reserve must have insurance that includes a “removal and destruction” clause.
  3. Mooring Time Limits
    The maximum permitted stay on mooring buoys in Colombier and Fourchue is 4 consecutive days (96 hours). After this, vessels must leave the Reserve for a minimum of 96 hours before returning.
  4. Motorized Water Sports
    All motorized water sports, including jet skis, electric surfboards, and similar activities, are strictly prohibited within the Natural Reserve.
  5. Dogs in the Reserve
    Dogs are not allowed on beaches or in the waters of the Natural Reserve. They must remain onboard vessels at all times.
  6. Fishing Regulations
    Fishing is regulated within the Natural Reserve. All forms of fishing, except shore fishing with a line, require a permit, which is issued free of charge by the Reserve authorities.
  7. Commercial Activities
    Any commercial activity conducted within the Natural Reserve must be pre-approved and authorized.
